7 Brew markets itself on kindness, but the drive-thru coffee chain has been through three ownership deals since 2020. Ron and Lisa Crume opened the first stand in Rogers, Arkansas in 2017, an entrepreneurial group bought the business in January 2020, a partnership fronted by Jimmy John's founder Jimmy John Liautaud took a majority stake in 2021, and private-equity giant Blackstone bought in during 2024. [1][2][4] Today more than 700 of its prefabricated stands operate across 38 states, and the company says it pours over a million drinks a day. [3]
- CEO John Davidson says he wants to make 7 Brew "the Dollar General of coffee."
- Jimmy John's founder held a majority stake in 7 Brew before Blackstone's 2024 deal.
- Founder Ron Crume co-owns the construction firm that builds 7 Brew's prefab stands.
- The drive-thru chain says it now serves more than a million drinks a day.
- 7 Brew launched its first-ever mobile app in August 2026, opening its secret menu.
Quick Take
On paper, 7 Brew ranks among the least political of America's fast-growing restaurant brands. No corporate political action committee appears on record, there is no registered federal lobbying, and no significant political giving surfaced for the company or its parent, Brew Culture LLC. [3] Its public identity runs entirely through a "Cultivate Kindness" mission, a charitable foundation, and community donations the company puts at more than 1.3 million dollars. [3] The few values-coded signals are soft and pull in different directions, from deep Arkansas roots and a kindness-first culture to the company's own stated goal of "creating a more inclusive world." [3]
Where the Political Money Is Not
Brew Culture LLC, the parent that owns and operates 7 Brew, is a privately held company, so it files no financial or political disclosures with the Securities and Exchange Commission. [3] A review of available reporting and campaign-finance records turned up no corporate PAC, no registered federal lobbying, and no significant political contributions tied to 7 Brew, Brew Culture, or founder Ron Crume. For a chain that has grown past 700 locations and a 45,000-strong workforce it calls the Brew Crew, that absence is itself notable: the company has aimed its public energy at branding and charity rather than at candidates or causes. [3]
The one nationally known political figure in 7 Brew's ownership history has already cashed out. A partnership co-founded by Jimmy John Liautaud, the billionaire behind the Jimmy John's sandwich chain, and Lone Star Steakhouse founder Jamie Coulter held a majority stake from 2021. [1] Liautaud sold his shares in the 2024 Blackstone transaction, so whatever personal political profile he carries is no longer the current company's. [1]
A Brand Built on Cultivating Kindness
7 Brew stays relentlessly on message, and the message is not political. The company defines its mission as Cultivating Kindness, which it describes as "choosing connection, serving with heart, uplifting others, and creating small moments that can brighten someone's day." [3] It backs that language with the Cultivate Kindness Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3), and says its crews have donated more than 1.3 million dollars and over 5 million drinks to community groups, including Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. [3] The company also runs a nationwide Veterans Day discount, giving veterans a reduced price on any drink at every stand. [10]
The company takes no public positions on partisan political issues, and it states no religious affiliation; it traces the "7" in its name to the seven original coffee drinks on its first menu. [8] The most values-adjacent language on its own site appears in its monthly "7 Brew Heroes" recognitions, which pair a call to create "a more inclusive world" with honorees celebrated for community work such as supporting families and people living with disabilities. [3]
From One Arkansas Stand to a Blackstone Portfolio Company
Ron and Lisa Crume opened the first 7 Brew stand in Rogers, Arkansas in 2017, built around a two-lane drive-thru and seven original coffees. [4] On January 7, 2020, a group led by John Davidson bought the business and began running it as Brew Culture LLC, the parent that still operates the brand. [3][4] In 2021, when the chain had roughly nine stands, the Liautaud and Coulter partnership took a majority stake and pushed 7 Brew into national franchising. [1] Blackstone, the firm that manages more than a trillion dollars in assets, made a growth investment in February 2024 and took a minority stake, with Brew Culture's leadership continuing to run the company. [1][2][3] Blackstone separately bought the Jersey Mike's sandwich chain outright in a deal completed in early 2025, which put the two brands under the same investor even though its 7 Brew position stayed a minority one. [12]
Davidson remains chief executive, with Christopher Dawson as president and former Restaurant Brands International finance chief Matthew Dunnigan hired as chief financial officer in late 2025. [5][9] Crume, the founder, stepped back from running the company years ago; the chain's chief operating officer told Arkansas Business in 2023 that Crume stayed a shareholder but was no longer involved in operations. [4] He kept a foothold in the business another way: he and Lisa co-own Creative Modular Construction, the Missouri firm that builds many of 7 Brew's prefabricated stands. In early 2026, a Crume-owned entity sued the construction firm's other half-owner over an alleged 2 million dollar diversion of funds, a dispute resolved and dismissed by April 2026. [7]
Built for the Drive-Thru, 20,000 Ways to Order
For nearly its entire history, 7 Brew has sold coffee only through drive-thru stands, with no dining rooms. Customers order from their cars at compact, often prefabricated stands staffed by workers the company calls Brewistas, and the brand built its reputation on speed. [2] The menu spans seven categories, Coffees, 7 Energy drinks, 7 Fizz sodas, Teas, Lemonades, Smoothies, and Shakes, which the company says add up to more than 20,000 possible combinations. [3] In 2025 it opened its first walk-thru location, inside a Walmart Supercenter in Springdale, Arkansas, the first stand it built for foot traffic rather than cars. [5]
What Is New in the Last Year
Growth is the running story. 7 Brew opened 280 stands in 2025, passed 600 locations by January 2026, and by August 2026 was citing around 800 stands across 38 states. [5][3] CEO John Davidson has said he wants to make 7 Brew "the Dollar General of coffee." [1] The company announced its first-ever mobile app on August 5, 2026, and rolled it out to customers on August 12, adding order-ahead ordering, a reworked rewards program, and public access to its "secret menu," with each drink still made fresh once the customer arrives. [11] In September 2025, private investment firm Franchise Equity Partners bought into one of the chain's largest franchisee groups and committed to developing hundreds more stores, part of a broader wave of private capital flowing into 7 Brew franchisees. [6] The company kept adding senior leadership through the year and continues to bill itself as "the fastest growing restaurant chain in America." [5][3]
Where to Find Them
7 Brew runs drive-thru stands across 38 states, with corporate offices in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and its brand online at 7brew.com. [4][3] It is privately held and has no publicly traded stock; beyond its private equity investors, the main way for the public to buy into the brand is by opening a franchise. [3]
