Clint Eastwood directs Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle, the Navy SEAL credited as the deadliest sniper in U.S. military history, following him through four tours in Iraq and the strain each homecoming puts on his marriage to Taya, played by Sienna Miller. Adapted from Kyle's memoir, it became the highest-grossing war film ever made in America and earned six Oscar nominations including Best Picture. The film's portrait of Kyle, and his 2013 death at a Texas gun range, made it a flashpoint in the debate over the Iraq war.
