Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould built this prequel across six seasons from 2015 to 2022, tracking a struggling Albuquerque lawyer named Jimmy McGill on his way to becoming Saul Goodman. It runs slower and sadder than the show it came from, and much of it is really about a law career, a brother, and a woman who deserved better. Bob Odenkirk plays Jimmy opposite Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler, with Jonathan Banks, Michael McKean, Giancarlo Esposito, and Tony Dalton. It is regularly argued to be the rare prequel that stands with its original.
