Vince Gilligan's series ran five seasons from 2008 to 2013 and follows a high school chemistry teacher in Albuquerque who gets a terminal diagnosis and decides to cook methamphetamine to leave his family money. The premise is a setup for a slower question about how much of what follows was the cancer and how much was already there. Bryan Cranston plays Walter White and Aaron Paul plays his former student Jesse Pinkman, with Anna Gunn, Dean Norris, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, and Giancarlo Esposito. It is the show most often cited when people argue that television caught up to film.
