Tom Hanks plays Forrest, Sally Field his mother, Gary Sinise the embittered lieutenant he serves under, and Robin Wright the childhood friend whose harder road runs alongside his own. Sentimental by design and enormously popular for it, winner of six Academy Awards including Best Picture.
