Peter Berg adapted his own film and Buzz Bissinger's book into this drama about high school football in the small Texas town of Dillon, where the Panthers are the center of civic life and the coach's job is never safe. Kyle Chandler plays Coach Eric Taylor and Connie Britton plays his wife Tami, a guidance counselor and later principal, in a marriage critics called one of the most believable ever put on television. Taylor Kitsch, Zach Gilford, Jesse Plemons, and Michael B. Jordan came out of its cast. It ran five seasons on NBC and DirecTV through 2011 and won Emmys for Chandler and its writing.
