Francis Ford Coppola's sequel runs two stories side by side: young Vito Corleone's rise from Sicilian orphan to New York power broker in the 1910s, and his son Michael's cold consolidation of the family empire across Nevada, Havana, and a Senate hearing room in the 1950s. Robert De Niro won an Oscar as the young Vito, Al Pacino returns as Michael, and Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, and John Cazale round out the family. It took six Academy Awards including Best Picture, the first sequel ever to win it.
