The Green Mile

Frank Darabont adapted Stephen King's serial novel about a Depression era death row and the guard who runs it. John Coffey is a huge, soft spoken man convicted of killing two girls, and the longer the guards live alongside him the harder it gets to square what they see with what the court decided. Tom Hanks plays Paul Edgecomb and Michael Clarke Duncan plays Coffey, with David Morse, Bonnie Hunt, James Cromwell, Sam Rockwell, and Doug Hutchison. It runs past three hours and takes its time on purpose.
