Rob Reiner's fairy tale is framed as a grandfather reading to a sick kid who is suspicious of anything with kissing in it. Inside the book, a farmhand turned pirate goes after the woman he loves, who has been promised to a prince planning a war. Cary Elwes and Robin Wright play the leads, with Mandy Patinkin as a swordsman hunting his father's killer, plus Wallace Shawn, Chris Sarandon, Christopher Guest, and Andre the Giant. William Goldman adapted his own novel, and the dialogue is why people can still quote it line for line.
