Matt Groening's family started as shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show and became a series in 1989 that is still producing episodes today. Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie live in Springfield, a town built large enough to satirize almost anything American on any given week. Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria, and Harry Shearer voice most of the town between them. It is the longest running scripted primetime series in American television, and its early seasons remain the reference point for animated comedy.
