Pete Docter's Pixar adventure opens with a wordless montage of a marriage and then sends 78-year-old widower Carl Fredricksen floating toward South America in a house lifted by thousands of balloons, with an eager Wilderness Explorer named Russell stowed away on the porch. Ed Asner voices Carl, Jordan Nagai is Russell, and Christopher Plummer plays the explorer Carl idolized as a boy. It won two Academy Awards and was the second animated film ever nominated for Best Picture.
