Public Political Activity

MyPillow itself does not maintain a registered federal Political Action Committee, and as a privately held company it does not disclose political contributions through SEC filings. The company's documented political activity is concentrated in the actions, statements, and personal spending of founder and CEO Mike Lindell, who serves as the brand's public face.

Lindell has stated publicly that he spent approximately $25 million of his own money by December 2021 to fund post-election claims that voting machines manipulated the 2020 presidential election outcome.[2] In subsequent statements he has placed his cumulative personal spending on these efforts above $40 million.[2] On December 3, 2025, Lindell filed paperwork to enter the 2026 Minnesota gubernatorial election as a Republican candidate.[3] At a December 2025 rally in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Donald Trump publicly stated that Lindell "deserves to be governor of Minnesota."[4] Lindell publicly clarified afterward that he did not consider this a formal endorsement, characterizing the remark as "a shoutout" rather than the explicit declaration Trump typically issues for endorsed candidates.[4]

In April 2022, Lindell publicly mentioned donating as much as $800,000 to a legal defense fund for Tina Peters, a Republican candidate for Colorado Secretary of State who was later convicted in connection with election-equipment tampering.[3] Lindell has also disclosed donations to The Fight Back Foundation, a 501(c)(4) organization he describes as funding "election fraud litigation, among other things."[3] As a 501(c)(4), the foundation is not required to disclose donor identities.

Reporting by CNBC and other outlets has linked Lindell to the funding of Women for America First, the organization that held the permit for the January 6, 2021 rally that preceded the U.S. Capitol attack.[2] According to people familiar with the matter cited in the CNBC report, the group's leaders described Lindell as a financial supporter who provided between $250,000 and $600,000 to the organization.[2]

Public Positions and Statements

The company itself has made limited official political statements. The dominant public political activity associated with the brand comes from Lindell's personal media appearances, his ownership of Mike Lindell Media Corp. (formerly FrankSpeech, Inc., now publicly traded under ticker MLMC), and his speaking appearances at conservative-aligned events including the Conservative Political Action Conference and multiple Trump rallies.[3]

A federal jury in Denver, Colorado found Lindell personally liable for defamation on June 16, 2025, awarding former Dominion Voting Systems employee Eric Coomer approximately $2.3 million in damages.[5] The same jury did not find MyPillow itself liable for defamation in that case; liability fell on Lindell personally and on his streaming platform FrankSpeech.[6] In a March 2026 ruling, the federal district court denied Lindell's motion to overturn the verdict, with Judge Nina Wang concluding that FrankSpeech functioned as Lindell's "corporate alter ego" rather than a passive platform.[7]

In a separate matter, in 2017 MyPillow settled a class-action lawsuit brought by California prosecutors over the company's marketing claims; under the settlement, the company is barred in California from claiming its pillows can cure or treat diseases without supporting human trials, and from describing itself as the "official pillow" of the National Sleep Foundation without disclosing financial ties.[1]

A September 2024 promotional sale on the company's social media accounts priced its classic pillow at $14.88. Multiple outlets reported that this price corresponds to a numerical sequence widely used as a reference combining the white-nationalist "Fourteen Words" slogan with the number 88 used as code for "Heil Hitler"; the sale was praised by self-identified white-nationalist accounts on social media.[1] Lindell publicly denied any intended reference, calling the reporting a "media hit job."[1]

Products and Customer Base

MyPillow manufactures pillows, mattresses, mattress toppers, sheets, towels, and pet beds at a Shakopee, Minnesota facility. The company sells direct-to-consumer through mypillow.com and through televised infomercials. The customer base skews heavily toward conservative and Trump-aligned consumers. Beginning in 2021, most major mass-market retailers including Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kohl's, H-E-B, and Wayfair stopped carrying MyPillow products, citing market and customer-demand factors.[8] QVC had previously stopped selling MyPillow in June 2020.[9] As of 2026, MyPillow is reported to operate primarily as a direct-to-consumer brand through its website and infomercials, with the company's company-owned retail footprint reduced to a single outlet store in Shakopee, Minnesota.[10]

Founding and Ownership

Mike Lindell founded MyPillow in 2004, initially selling pillows through Lindell's Night Moves Minnesota, LLC, before incorporating MyPillow, Inc. in 2009.[1] Lindell, whose personal history includes a publicly discussed prior crack-cocaine addiction that he has stated ended in 2008 through religious conversion, remains the active CEO and primary owner as of 2026.[11] In 2020 he named his son Darren as the company's chief operating officer.[3] The company is privately held and is not publicly traded.

Lindell testified during the June 2025 Coomer trial that his net worth, which he previously estimated at $60 million, had become negative by approximately $10 million as a result of legal expenses related to his post-2020-election activity.[12] In June 2025, Lindell launched a promotional campaign tying MyPillow product purchases to fundraising for his legal defense fund, with a "JURY" promo code offering a free pillow with any purchase.[12]

Recent News

In February 2026, the Daily Beast and Minnesota Reformer reported that Lindell's gubernatorial campaign had spent approximately $187,000 of the $356,000 it had raised in its first two weeks on copies of Lindell's autobiography, What Are the Odds? From Crack Addict to CEO, which the campaign distributes to voters.[13] Lindell has publicly stated he intends to continue this practice, citing the price his employee-owned company offered the campaign on the books.[14]
